Western riding

Horsemanship Open L3
(15 starts)

Horsemanship evaluates the rider’s horsemanship skills, and their ability to perform various predetermined maneuvers, which build on the fundamentals of the western disciplines.

The class is divided into two sections: individual and group. The group section, also known as railwork, is ridden after all competitors have performed the individual pattern. During the railwork all competitors ride along the perimeter of the arena in a gait designated by the judge.

The class is evaluated in accordance with the SKHH ry Western riding rules.

Class judge: Jörkkä
Class assistant judge: Nukki M.

The top 5 riders will place.

Trail Open L2
(15 starts)

The trail pattern consists of various obstacles like poles and a gate. The judge observes the competitor’s ability to ride with precision and forethought, in addition to their ability to perform the obstacles in a careful manner. The pattern is ridden with a calm pace; the goal of the class isn’t to be the fastest performance.

The obstacles featured in a trail pattern can be based on things one might find while out trail-riding, however nowadays, the class focuses more on the agility and precision of the competitor, without forgetting the glamour of competitive riding.

The class is evaluated in accordance with the SKHH ry Western riding rules.

Class judge: Jörkkä
Class assistant judge: Nukki M.

The top 5 riders will place.

Pole bending (25 starts)

Unlike in western all-around disciplines, pole bending measures the swiftness of the competitors. Pure speed isn’t enough to win the class though, rather the competitor must weave through a pattern consisting of six upright poles without knocking any over. The pattern therefore calls for agility, precision and sharp reflexes in addition to speed.

The class is evaluated in accordance with the SKHH ry Western riding rules.

Class judge: Will be announced later
Class ring secretary: Will be announced later

The top 5 riders will place.
